Notes: A 10 page comprehensive account on the history Russo-Turkish Wars of 1828 - 1829, which was sparked by the Greek War for Independence, and resulted in Russia gaining full access of the eastern shore of the Black Sea and the mouth of the Danube. Turkey recognized Russian sovereignty over western (Black Sea) Georgia and parts of northwest present-day Armenia. Serbia achieved autonomy and Russia was allowed to occupy Moldavia and Walachia until Turkey had paid a large indemnity. The Russian forces were supported by the UK and French armies, against the Ottoman Turks. Condition: Complete article removed from within original Harper's Monthly Magazine.
