New York: Boni & Liveright, 1927. 1st edition, 4th printing, April 1928. Blue-green cloth hardcover with goldstamped title on spine and goldstamped author's name signature on front cover. Dust jacket present. Measures 8-3/8" tall x 5-5/8" wide. 182 pp. (Atkinson, #A 28-I-i.e). A collectible early printing of this play, in original dust jacket. Based loosely on the life of Marco Polo, from the four-time Pulitzer and Nobel prize winning playwright. A Chicago Evening Post review of the play from Oct 9, 1928 cut out and laid in, wrapped in a acid-free paper (to protect book against newsprint). Overall, good condition, with flaws noted: corners bumped; spine darkened at head and tail, and goldstamp text non-readable. Boards are bright and deep in color. Text block contents tight. Dust jacket chipped and torn; 3" closed tear across front. DJ spine chipped with bottom 1-3/4" removed, as well as chipping to head. DJ torn along front outer gutter - detached and in two pieces. DJ now enclosed in BroDart archival crystal clear dust jacket slip; which has closed and connected DJ back together. No other marks, tears, dog-ear pages, remainder mark or library stamps. Front free endpaper, titlepage, and epilogue page detached and laid-in. Heavily annotated on backside of ffep, as well as other notes throughout book, all in pencil.
