Volumes 1 & 2 included. 1/4 Brown leather bound hardcover with five raised bands on spine and gilt ornaments on each spine band. Title, Date and Volume number on spine in gilt text. Measures 9-1/4" x 12-1/2" tall. Vol 1: 452 pp; Vol 2: 445 pp. with full index /contents pages in front. Text is entirely in German script of mid-late 1900's. Detailed illustrations throughout text. Full title: Die Gartenlaube - Illustrirtes Familienblatt (The Gazebo - Illustrated Family Newspaper). An illustrated bound magazine of German origin. A forerunner of modern magazines, Gazebo was the first major success of the German tabloid. The magazine began in 1853, and after mergings and changes, was finally taken over by Nazi propaganda publishers, changed to 'The New Gazebo' and finally ended its run in 1944 (coinciding with the Nazi party). Overall, very good condition, with flaws noted: Corners and edges bumped and rubbed. Marbled covers show some wear and scratches. Some soiling visible on front board of vol 1. Outer spine gilt title very bright and readable. Leather in clean and complete condition - showing knicks or rubbing to raised bands and edges. Internally clean and tight binding - very bright text and illustrations. No pages removed. Not ex-library. Absolutely no interior writing. Minimal foxing present only on endpapers - text is clean and bright.
