New York: Funk & Wagnalls Co. 1953. Stated 79th printing. Blue & silver dust jacket on dark blue cloth hardcover with silver gilt title front cover and spine. Book measures 9-1/2" tall x 6-1/2" wide. 658 pp. This book is an interesting look into common 'social' practices updated for the 1950s. It should be a mandatory read for all adolescent / teen girls to show them 'how it was' or how thing have changed. This book was most likely one major reason for the 1960's feminism movements. It is hilarious and sad at the same time - especially the chapters 'Modern Man and Girl', 'Engagements' and 'Preparations for their future home...'. It is 658 pages of women's suppression, suffrage, and should be read as such. Book in good condition with flaws noted: corners bumped and rubbed; head and tail of spine rubbed. Rear 100+ pages or so have staining on fore edges; does not extend inwards more than 1/16". Book overall clean and tight in a complete binding. DUST JACKET: chipped and small tears at top and bottom. 1-1/2" diagonal tear on front cover. 2" tear on back cover. Non-price clipped. Slight wear to silver portions of DJ.
