New York: Reynal & Hitchcock, 1944. Third printing. Tan cloth hardcover in no dust jacket. Measures 5-5/8" x 8-1/4" tall. 63 pp. Karl Shapiro states in his intro that he is on guard from being a 'war poet'; I assume this was with difficulty, as he was in the Pacific Theater of World War II when he composed the entire contents of this book of poetry. Shapiro won the 1945 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for this book. Overall, good condition, with flaws noted: Corners slightly bumped. Soiling and age shown on outer cloth covers. Previous owner's inscription to front endpapers; also a one word inscription within text of one poem, else no other interior writing, underlining, etc.

Price = 25.00 USD
