Cincinnati: F&W Publications. Editor: Lois Rosenthal. Spring 1996 Volume 44 #2. Illus. by R.O. Blechman (cover art). 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall. Printed in Story Literary Magazine, a now defunct, quarterly periodical. Also featured in this issue: Nathan Englander, Colum McCann, among others. Early printing of Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, which was later published in book form in 1996. Included in this publication is a short story entitled 'Project Mayhem', which is Chapter 16 of the novel. Item is in Near Fine condition, with crisp pages and very clean front and back covers. Slight crease at spine gutter. Lower front corner and lower spine bumped. Now enclosed in a crystal-clear, re-sealing, acid free archival slip.

Editor: Lois Rosenthal. Spring 1996 Volume 44 #2. Signed by Colum McCann on contents page. Includes short story 'Cathal's Lake'. Biography section in rear states, "His first novel, Songdogs, was published last October by Metropolitan Books and his short story collection, Fishing the Sloe-Black River, will be published in the fall." This issue of STORY Magazine also includes the short story, 'Project Mayhem' by Chuck Palahniuk, which later became his best-selling Fight Club. Highly collectible issue. 2. STORY Magazine Cincinnati: F&W Publications. Editor: Lois Rosenthal. Spring 1997 Volume 45 #2. Signed by Colum McCann on contents page. Includes short story 'As Kingfishers Catch Fire'. Biography section in rear states, "He is the author of a novel, Songdogs (1995), and a short story collection, Fishing the Sloe-Black River (1996), both published by Metropolitan Books. He is currently completing his second novel." McCann won a Pushcart Prize for this short story. This issue of STORY Magazine also includes the short story, 'Survivor' by Chuck Palahniuk, which later became his best-selling book Survivor. Highly collectible issue. 3. Biography section in rear states, "author of the story collection Fishing the Sloe-Black River and the novels Songdogs and This Side of Brightness. 'As Kingfishers Catch Fire', which appeared in our Spring 1997 issue, won a Pushcart Prize. 4. STORY Magazine Cincinnati: F&W Publications. Editor: Lois Rosenthal. Autumn 1999 Volume 47 #4. Signed by author at inclusion of story - 'As if There Were Trees'. This issue has highlighting within another story, 'The Deaf Girl' by Barry Lopez. Biography section in rear states, "author of Fishing the Sloe-Black River, Songdogs and This Side of Brightness. He has received the Rooney Award for Irish Literature, the Hennessy Prize for Irish Writing, and he recently won a Pushcart Prize for 'As Kingfishers Catch Fire', published in STORY." Overall, each magazine in very good to fine condition. Any flaws will be described in the individual listing description. All four STORY magazines now enclosed in crystal-clear archival magazines slips. None are ex-library or written in by their previous owners. All bindings are tight, clean and in collectible condition.
